— Power Supply : DC 12V center positive included with your unit
Inspired by Fender signature’s blend of spring reverb with tremolo from their iconic Blackface amp circuitry, we're thrilled to bring you the Surf Spring! Rooted in the legacy of the Vibroverb one of the earliest Blackface amplifier designs, the first ever to feature a built-in spring reverb and a tremolo (misccalled vibrato). The Surf Spring is a convenient solution to access Fender Blackface magic on any amp. Ideal for pairing with amps lacking of a built-in reverb, it’s your ticket to surf rock & blues rock guitar tones, no pedalboard required !
Designed around Accutronics’s traditional reverb tank alongside selected vintage & modern high quality components the circuit is tweaked to mirror a typical spring reverb from a Blackface. Same goes for the behavior of our tremolo, it works in a similar fashion to that of an amp, with Fender's characteristic near-sine LFO driving a transistor which gradually bleeds signal to ground on and off. And just like you would on an amp, to use tremolo alone, roll off both "reverb" and "mood adjuster".
External Footswitch (Tremolo) :
— Custom made for the Surf Spring
— Allows to activate the tremolo hand free
— Mogami insulated cable (Made in Japan)
— Right angled 1/4 TRS flat "Pancake" jack
— Insulated amp style enclosure

ABOUT SPRING REVERB IN GENERAL :
The input transducer in a reverb tank transforms your audio signal into mechanical vibrations that travel through the springs, creating the reverberation effect. If the signal is too strong, the springs may vibrate excessively, leading to uncontrolled resonances at specific high frequencies. This typically occurs when the amp's gain is turned up so high that the resulting signal becomes deafening. Prolonged exposure to overly strong signals can cause damage to the transducer, reducing efficiency or altering the tank's frequency response.
The Surf Spring has been designed with a reverb gain that’s deliberately pushed to 120% in tensity (when the "mood adjuster" knob is turned all the way to 10), creating the dramatic reverb wash, full-wet sound perfect for garage surf tones.
However, if you play at very high volumes on high-wattage tube amps, take note:
— To avoid overloading the reverb circuit, do not push the Mood Adjuster past 8 on the dial.
— Alternatively, slightly reduce your amp's output volume to maintain clean performance from the reverb.
This does not apply if you're using a pedal before or after to boost your volume, or if you’re running the unit through your amp’s external effects loop. The Surf Spring is designed for players seeking bold tones but requires careful setup to maintain optimal sound at extreme volumes.
